Dental Veneers
What Are Dental Veneers?
Sometimes called porcelain veneers, dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells of material that cover your teeth’s front surface. Veneers can change the shape, size, length, or colour of your teeth, improving your appearance.
You can use veneers to resolve dental issues if your teeth are:
• Discoloured
• Broken or chipped
• Worn down
• Uneven, misaligned, or irregularly shaped
What Are the Benefits of Porcelain Veneers and Composite Veneers?
While other options like teeth whitening could help you achieve the bright, white smile you desire, porcelain and composite veneers offer many advantages that other alternatives do not. Some of these advantages include:
• Their appearance matches that of natural teeth
• You can make dark or stained teeth appear whiter
• Unlike crowns, they do not need as much shaping
• Strong and long lasting

The Porcelain Veneer Procedure
Though getting veneers will take multiple trips to our dental office, the results of the procedure promise to leave you with a beautiful smile and increased confidence. The following are the steps involved:
Diagnosis
During your initial appointment with one of the qualified cosmetic dentists we have here, you will undergo an examination to determine if veneers are right for you. The dentist will take x-rays, photographs and make impressions of your teeth and mouth.
Preparation
The cosmetic dentist will reshape the tooth’s surface by trimming a small amount of enamel. Next, they will make an impression or model of the tooth, which they will send to the laboratory that will make the veneer. While the laboratory makes the veneer, the dentist will fit you with temporary veneers as you wait.
Bonding or Cementing
It usually takes approximately two weeks for your veneers to be ready. Once they are complete, you will come in for the bonding.

After applying a dental bond, the dentist will place the veneer on your tooth, perfectly positioning it. They will then shine a special beam of light to activate the chemicals in the bond, curing it and causing it to harden. Once the veneer is firmly in place, the dentist will remove any excess cement, check your bite, and make necessary adjustments before completing the procedure.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers look very similar to porcelain veneers. Some of the main differences include:
• Composite veneers rarely require removal of tooth structure
• Composite veneers are usually performed in one appointment
• Composite veneers are generally more economical than porcelain veneers
• Composite veneers are generally not as durable as porcelain veneers
