Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a cosmetic/restorative dental procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin material is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately “bonds” the material to the tooth to restore or improve a person’s smile.

Composite bonding can be helpful for a number of cosmetic and restorative procedures:

⦁ Can be used to fill cavities
⦁ Improve the appearance of teeth by filling gaps & repairing chipped and cracked teeth
⦁ To change the shape of teeth, close spaces and make teeth look longer
⦁ To protect teeth if roots are exposed due to gum recession

The lifespan of bonding materials for the teeth depends on your oral hygiene and your oral habits.

Bonded teeth will not have the strength of your natural teeth, so it’s important to be mindful of some habits that can shorten the lifespan and durability of bonded teeth. Grinding your teeth can cause the bonded material to chip and crack. Other activities such as drinking dark beverages and smoking can cause staining on the restored surface.
